Newspaper Trouw interviews Maarten Sanders and Gert-Jan van den Bergh about the proceedings between the State of Ukraine, Crimean museums and the Allard Pierson Museum. Bergh Stoop & Sanders represents the State of Ukraine in this much-discussed dispute, which arose after the annexation of Crimea. On Monday, 11 March 2019, the plea in appeal took place at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. In the process, Bergh Stoop & Sanders, on behalf of the State of Ukraine, recovered national cultural property for the State of Ukraine based on the 1970 UNESCO Convention. In 2016, the dispute was already decided in favour of Ukraine at first instance. The judgment in this appeal is expected on 11 June 2019.
